More ETFs needed in India

I have written an article on "More ETFs needed in India".

In January 2002, NSE launched trading of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). There are ETFs such as iPath MSCI India ETN (INP), WisdomTree India Earnings Fund (EPI), PowerShares India Portfolio (PIN) are tracking Indian Stock Marker for foreign investors. Only Benchmark Mutual Fund offers a couple of ETFs traded in NSE. Surprisingly there were not much ETFs introduced for trading in NSE in the last couple of years. I expect to see more demand from retail investors in India for ETFs.

Medical Insurance - COBRA

Hi All,

I have written an article on COBRA coverage on medical insurance.

In United States, medical insurances are sponsored mostly by employers as a group. Employers will pay 50% of the insurance cost for full time employees and employees need to spend the rest. If you spend $500 per month for medical insurance, then employer will sponsor another $500 towards your medical insurance. If you are a consultant, your employer may not cover any portion and you need to spend 100% of medical insurance cost, even if you participate in employer sponsored group plan. That's how the system works.

Understanding Gas Prices

I have written an artcile on "Understanding Gas Prices".

As the gas prices are traded in the future market in the exchanges, we may think that the gas price per gallon might be consistent across all the states in USA. Nevertheless the opposite is true. If you live in Alaska, Georgia, Wyoming, New Jersey, S. Carolina, Oklahoma, Missouri, Mississippi, New Mexico, Arizona, Virginia, New Hampshire, you can be happy that you will be paying less gas price per gallon compared to the people living in other states. If you live California, New York, Hawaii, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington, Michigan, then you will be paying more for gas prices at the gas station.
